Trust me they will love it and if they don't you are still somehow doing it wrong.

Another thing I refuse to purchase is the Retina Mac Book Pro. I salute Apple for making is so damn light and putting a bajillion pixels in the display, but I hate the fact that the RAM and solid state drive are actually soldered to the logic board.

It was yet another much-needed reminder that Apple goes out of its way to make tinkering a herculean task.

I should preface this by saying I bought the Mac mini fully knowing it was not a very powerful machine.

I wanted a desktop computer, mostly because I could save some cash and felt I didn’t need a laptop if I would be using a work machine for 90 percent of my daily tasks.

A Mac mini would let me keep my workflow, files, and apps intact from my dying Mac Book Pro without having to spend upwards of

A Mac mini would let me keep my workflow, files, and apps intact from my dying Mac Book Pro without having to spend upwards of $1,000.

This I know well from simple cases like RAM upgrades.

But I was not at all prepared for the massive undertaking the late 2014-era Mac mini requires of users.

Well, you can't put a new one in there because it's soldered to the motherboard, and don't even get me started about not offering it in the matte display on the Retina Macbook Pro.

The Retina screen is still reflective and a pain to deal with on set.
