I attended PS 156 and JHS 59, and I graduated from AJHS in 1962. I went to PS 156, JHS 59 and Springfield Gardens HS grad 1969. One lives in Mount Kisco NY and the other lives in Philly PA. It had more of a Long Island "feel." I'm currently living in Princeton, NJ. Life revolved around school, the schoolyard, the LJC, little league and later hanging out on Merrick Road at such establishments as Carmine's Pizza. I loved my childhood and will never forget all my friends who lived there and who I grew up with. It's nice to see I'm not the only one with pangs of nostalgia about Laurelton. I have fond memories of Laurelton, riding bicycles, having hoola hoop contests, playing hop scotch. Does anyone remember other teachers Angela Cinque, Martin Groffman, Arthur Bryton, Martin Hohauser, and Mr. Thank you for the photos, for the memories and for setting up this website. The boys had endless games of catch and stoop ball.
I remember Lil Eds, Capri, 4 Star Bakery and the movie house. Hard to believe at times that we were situated in NYC. In between I accumulated a wealth of fond memories growing up in Laurelton too numerous to list but probably very similar to others who are on this site. Life has taken many turns since High School for all of us. One year later I too moved out to Phoenix and have been here ever since. Now I have to live for another 30 years to enjoy it :-). I see many familiar names - Arnie Cohen, Bob Kazin, Tom Burke, Iris Schwartz. On our street we had Barbara and Robert Malkin, Neal Dreznin, David Kaback, David Scher, my family (Reba, Jay and Hope Harris) and more.
Retired, with (3) horses, (1) border collie, (25) plains bison and a horse farm on the north fork of Long Island. I became active in race-walking in the late 1990s (I was never a physical education aficionado back in AJHS! My kids still don't seem to understand the way it was. I was in ADG and we were close with many fraternities. I have an older sister, Janet Breitman and we're still in touch with Margy and Judy Lesk. We moved to Laurelton in 1949 and lived at 133-08 234th Street. In spite of doing worst in French, I actually learned more than I thought and can still survive when I visit France. I've lived in Israel for the last 35 years and have been a "Lubavitcher" (Chabad) for the past 23, and have a big, beautiful family of kids and grandkids. I really wanted the pink and blue fairytale lunchbox.
Married in 1965 to the former Marilyn Meister, 2 sons and a 4 y/o grand daughter. Hi everyone, I am not Milton Blatt's daughter; but I am Jerry's younger and Cynthia's older sister. I moved from Laurelton (128-44 236 Street) in 1970 and now live in Jackson Heights, NY. Sygoda, and the math teacher who taught us calculus, but I can't remember his name. Morris, who taught me not to be afraid of Shakespeare. Lived in Rochdale Village in the 60's and was best friends with Rita Levy (now Ratner) until leaving for Israel after graduating Queens College in 1972. My wife, Janice Schaerf Hamburg (AJHS 1963) an my sister, Linda Hamburg Berger (AJHS 1963) are also curious about any old friends that might view this web site. I remember eating lunch in the auditorium with my farmhouse lunchbox and thermos.
